        The CXSD62123 is a 2A, asynchronous, step-down con-verter with integratedoJx嘉泰姆
100mΩ P-channel MOSFET. The device, with current-mode control scheme, canoJx嘉泰姆
convert 4.5~26V input voltage to the output voltage adjustable from 0.8 to 90%oJx嘉泰姆

 VIN to provide excellent output voltage regulation.oJx嘉泰姆
        The CXSD62123 regulates the output voltage in automatic PSM/PWM modeoJx嘉泰姆
operation, depending on the output  current, for high efficiency operation over lightoJx嘉泰姆
to full load current. The CXSD62123 is also equipped with power-on-reset, soft-start, and whole protections (under-voltage,over- temperature, and current-limit) oJx嘉泰姆

into a single package.In shutdown mode, the supply current drops below 5μA.oJx嘉泰姆

Inductor Value CalculationoJx嘉泰姆
The operating frequency and inductor selection are interrelated in that higher operating frequencies permit the use of a smaller inductor for the same amount of inductorripple current. However, this is at the expense of efficiencyoJx嘉泰姆
due to an increase in MOSFET gate charge losses. The equation (2) shows that the inductance value has a directoJx嘉泰姆
effect on ripple current.Accepting larger values of ripple current allows the use of low inductances but results inoJx嘉泰姆
higher output voltage ripple and greater core losses. A reasonable starting point for setting ripple current isoJx嘉泰姆
∆I ≤ 0.4. IOUT(MAX). Remember, the maximum ripple current occurs at the maximum input voltage. oJx嘉泰姆
Output Diode SelectionoJx嘉泰姆
The Schottky diode carries load current during the offtime. Therefore, the average diode current is dependentoJx嘉泰姆
on the P-channel power MOSFET duty cycle. At high input voltages, the diode conducts most of the time. As VIN ap-proaches VOUT, the diode conducts only a small fraction of the time. The most stressful condition for the diode is when the output is short-circuited. Therefore, it is important to adequately specify the diode peak current and av-oJx嘉泰姆
erage power dissipation so as not to exceed the diode ratings.oJx嘉泰姆
In high power switching regulator, a correct layout is important to ensure proper operation of the regulator. InoJx嘉泰姆
general, interconnecting impedance should be minimized by using short and wide printed circuit traces. Signal andoJx嘉泰姆
power grounds are to be kept separating and finally c om bined using ground plane construction oroJx嘉泰姆
single point grounding. Figure 2 illustrates the layout,with bold lines indicating high current paths. Components along the bold lines should be placed close together.oJx嘉泰姆
Below is a checklist for your layout:oJx嘉泰姆
pedances should be minimized by using wide and short printed circuit traces.oJx嘉泰姆
3. Keep the sensitive small signal nodes (FB, COMP)away from switching nodes (LX or others) on the PCB.oJx嘉泰姆
Therefore, place the feedback divider and the feedback compensation network close to the IC to avoid switch-oJx嘉泰姆
ing noise. Connect the ground of feedback divider directly to the GND pin of the IC using a dedicatedoJx嘉泰姆
ground trace.oJx嘉泰姆
4. The VCC decoupling capacitor should be right next to the VCC and GND pins. Capacitor C2 should beoJx嘉泰姆
connected as close to the VIN and UGND pins as possible.oJx嘉泰姆
5. Place the decoupling ceramic capacitor C1 near the VIN as close as possible. The bulk capacitors C8 areoJx嘉泰姆
also placed near VIN. Use a wide power ground plane to connect the C1, C8, C4, and Schottky diode to pro-oJx嘉泰姆
vide a low impedance path between the components for large and high slew rate current.oJx嘉泰姆
