      The CXSD61038 are high-efficiency, high frequency synchronous step-downWL9嘉泰姆
DC-DC regulator ICs capable of delivering up to 1.5A output currents. TheCXSD61038 can operate over a wide input voltage range from 2.3V to 5.5V andWL9嘉泰姆
integrate main switch and synchronous switch with very low RDS(ON) to minimizeWL9嘉泰姆
the conduction loss.It is ideal for powering portable equipment that runs from aWL9嘉泰姆
single cell Lithium-Ion (Li+) battery. The output voltage can be regulated as low asWL9嘉泰姆
0.6V. The CXSD61038 can also run at 100% duty cycle for low dropout operation,WL9嘉泰姆
extending battery life in portable system.This device offers two operation modes,WL9嘉泰姆
PWM control and PFM Mode switchingcontrol, which allows a high efficiency overWL9嘉泰姆
the wider range of the load.WL9嘉泰姆

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONWL9嘉泰姆

CXSD61038 is a synchronous buck regulator IC that integrates the PWM/PFM control, topWL9嘉泰姆
and bottom switches on the same die to minimize the switching transition loss andWL9嘉泰姆
conduction loss. With ultra low RDS(ON) power switches and proprietary PWM control,WL9嘉泰姆
this regulator IC can achieve the highest efficiency and the highest switch frequencyWL9嘉泰姆
simultaneously to minimize the external inductor and capacitor size, and thusWL9嘉泰姆
achieving the minimum solution footprint.The CXSD61038 requires only three externalWL9嘉泰姆
power components (Cin, Cout and L). Theadjustable version can be programmedWL9嘉泰姆
with external feedback to any voltage,ranging from 0.6V to the input voltage.WL9嘉泰姆
At dropout, the converter duty cycle increases to 100% and the output voltageWL9嘉泰姆
tracks the input voltage minus the Rdson drop of the high-side MOSFET.WL9嘉泰姆
The internal error amplifier and compensation provides excellent transient response, load,WL9嘉泰姆
and line regulation. Soft start function prevents input inrush current and outputWL9嘉泰姆
overshoot during start up.WL9嘉泰姆
Inductor SelectionWL9嘉泰姆
For most designs, the CXSD61038 operates with inductors of 1μH to 4.7μH. Low inductanceWL9嘉泰姆
values are physically smaller but require faster switching, which results in some efficiency loss.WL9嘉泰姆
The inductor value can be derived from the following equation:WL9嘉泰姆
L =VIN × ∆I L × f OSC WL9嘉泰姆
Where ∆I L is inductor Ripple Current. Large value inductors result in lower ripple current andWL9嘉泰姆
small value inductors result in high ripple current. For optimum voltage-positioning loadWL9嘉泰姆
transients, choose an inductor with DC series resistance in the 50mΩ to 150mΩ range.WL9嘉泰姆
Input Capacitor SelectionWL9嘉泰姆
With the maximum load current at 1.5A, the maximum ripple current through input capacitorWL9嘉泰姆
is about 0.6Arms. A typical X7R or better grade ceramic capacitor with 6V rating and greaterWL9嘉泰姆
than 10uF capacitance can handle this ripple current well. To minimize the potential noiseWL9嘉泰姆
problem, place this ceramic capacitor really close to the IN andWL9嘉泰姆
GND pins. Care should be taken to minimizethe loop area formed by CIN, and IN/GND pins. WL9嘉泰姆
Output Capacitor Selection WL9嘉泰姆
The output capacitor is required to keep the output voltage ripple small and to ensureWL9嘉泰姆
regulation loop stability. The output capacitor must have low impedance at the switchingWL9嘉泰姆
frequency. Ceramic capacitors with X5R or X7R dielectrics are recommended due to their lowWL9嘉泰姆
ESR and high ripple current ratings. The outputripple VOUT is determined by:WL9嘉泰姆

circuit board, the following checking should be used to ensure proper operation of the CXSD61038. Check theWL9嘉泰姆

1. The power traces, consisting of the GND trace, the SW trace and the VIN traceshould be kept short,WL9嘉泰姆
    direct and wide.WL9嘉泰姆
2. Does the (+) plates of Cin connect to Vin as closely as possible? This capacitor provides the AC currentWL9嘉泰姆
    to the internal power MOSFETs.WL9嘉泰姆
3. Keep the switching node, SW, away from the sensitive VOUT node.WL9嘉泰姆
4. Keep the (-) plates of Cin and Cout as close as possibleWL9嘉泰姆
